History of ANZSPA
The Aotearoa New Zealand Student Paramedics Association (ANZSPA) was established in 2025 to connect the student associations of Auckland University of Technology and Whitireia Polytechnic & WelTec, the two institutions offering paramedicine programmes.
ANZSPA aims to foster collaboration, enhance cohesion, and promote inclusiveness across all levels of paramedicine studies. ANZSPA is proud to represent undergraduate and postgraduate level students in advocacy, education, engagement and workforce development.
The tohu for ANZSPA, designed in 2025 by Farren McGregor-Smyth, incorporates essential symbols of emergency medical services, including the Star of Life and the Rod of Asclepius, alongside Māori mangōpare patterns. The mangōpare symbolise the strength and courage needed to persevere through undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.
